Retratos Brasileiros (Brazilian Portraits) is a program on Canal Brasil, of the Globosat system, which presents an intimate profile of personalities of Brazilian Cinema.
Franco Produções produced the Program Retratos Brasileiros – Marcélia Cartaxo, which was directed by filmmaker Paula Gaitán.
Marcélia Cartaxo is an actress acclaimed in Brazil and abroad. She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for the feature film A Hora da Estrela (Hour of the Star) by Susana Amaral. She has acted in several other films such as Madame Satã by Karim Ainouz and in soap operas and television programs. Besides this, she has also been a filmmaker of short films.
Paula Gaitán is also a nationally and internationally acclaimed filmmaker, with feature documentaries and experimental short films, and has also directed the portrait of actress Maria Gladys for the same Canal Brasil program. Among her current films is the feature “Diários de Sintra” (The Sintra Diaries) in which she portrays her last days with husband Glauber Roch
